The Institute, a platform of unprecedented stature and accomplishment, is committed to protecting and nurturing the legacy of Indian culture. Natya Institute sets new standards in dance education, and performs the art of performing.
The Natya Institute of Kathak and Choreography’s history dates back to 1964 when Padma Vibhushan Smt Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay, in liaison with Dr Maya Rao, established the institute under Bharatiya Natya Sangh. This trust is the Indian Centre of International Theatres Institutions Trust and UNESCO. The Institute was founded with the intent of offering methodical training in choreography. It was headed by a number of experienced artists, and its format was designed Guru Maya Rao. NIKC was established in Bangalore by the Government of Karnataka at the request of Shri Ramakrishna Hegde, former Chief Minister. Since then, thousands have learned and adjusted to dance. It is a life full of unparalleled bliss.
